Built in Houston.
Built for Ford.
Two Houston engine men with grease-stained hands and a shared obsession — building remanufactured Ford engines the right way, every single time.
Where It All Started
It started in a three-bay shop off Westheimer Road in Houston, Texas. Two guys — Mike Callahan and Ray Gutierrez — had spent their careers pulling apart Ford engines, diagnosing what the factory got right and what it didn't, and rebuilding them better than they came.
Houston is truck country. The Permian Basin oil fields, the Gulf Coast refineries, the sprawling construction sites pushing out in every direction — all of them run on Ford F-Series trucks. Mike and Ray watched those engines come in worn down by hard miles and come back out of their shop ready for another decade of work. They knew they were onto something.
In 2009, with a handful of loyal shop accounts and a reputation that spread through the Houston automotive community by word of mouth, they officially launched RemanufacturedFordEngines.com — taking their regional expertise national.
Today the business ships remanufactured Ford engines to all 48 contiguous states, but the DNA hasn't changed. Every engine still gets the same obsessive attention to spec, the same machine work discipline, and the same dyno sign-off that Mike and Ray demanded from day one in that Westheimer shop.
"We didn't want to be the cheapest option. We wanted to be the one shop people called when they couldn't afford to get it wrong a second time."
— Mike Callahan, Co-Founder
The Houston Engine Men
Two lifelong Houstonians who grew up around Ford trucks, learned the trade from the ground up, and built a business on one principle — no shortcuts, no excuses.
Mike Callahan
Co-Founder & Chief Engine Builder
Mike grew up in the Fifth Ward, Houston, where his father ran a small auto repair shop on Jensen Drive. By sixteen he was boring cylinders. By twenty-two he was running the machine shop. He spent twelve years at a major Houston engine remanufacturer before deciding he wanted to build something with his name on it.
Mike oversees every aspect of the machining and assembly process. He has personally blueprinted and approved the build specs for all 40+ Ford engine families the company offers — from the classic 302 Windsor to the modern 5.0L Coyote.
He still walks the shop floor every morning before the day crew arrives. Old habit. Good habit.
Ray Gutierrez
Co-Founder & Director of Operations
Ray is a native Houstonian from the Northside, where pickup trucks aren't optional — they're how you get the job done. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Houston before discovering his real passion was in applied powertrain work, not theory.
Ray runs the operational side of the business — logistics, warranty administration, quality systems, and the supplier relationships that keep the right parts flowing to the right builds. He built the company's dyno certification protocol from scratch, modeled on aerospace inspection principles he studied during a brief stint consulting for a Baytown industrial firm.
Ray's rule: if you wouldn't put it in your own truck, it doesn't ship.
Fifteen Years of Getting It Right
From a three-bay Houston shop to a nationwide remanufactured Ford engine supplier — here's how we grew.
2009 — Houston, TX
Founded on Westheimer Road
Mike and Ray launch the business with three shop accounts, one dyno, and a commitment to building only Ford engines — nothing else, nothing compromised.
2011
First National Shipping Account
A shop owner in Memphis orders a 5.4L Triton after a Houston colleague's referral. The engine arrives perfect. The national business begins.
2013
RemanufacturedFordEngines.com Launches
The dedicated website goes live, bringing the company's catalog of Ford engine rebuilds to shops and individual buyers across the country.
2016
Expanded Facility & Dyno Lab
Moved to a larger facility with a dedicated CNC machining center and an upgraded load-bearing dyno — allowing full engine certification before every shipment.
2019
10,000th Engine Shipped
The 10,000th engine — a Ford 302 Windsor destined for a Mustang restoration in Ohio — ships with a handwritten note from Mike. Still framed in the customer's shop.
2022
3-Year / 100K Mile Warranty Program
Launched the industry's most comprehensive remanufactured engine warranty, covering parts and labor at any licensed shop in the contiguous United States.
2024 — Present
50,000+ Engines and Counting
Over fifty thousand remanufactured Ford engines shipped nationwide. The Westheimer shop mentality still drives every single build.
Our Core Values
The principles Mike and Ray agreed on in 2009 haven't changed. They're built into every engine we ship.
Zero Shortcuts
Every component is measured, machined, or replaced. There are no "looks good enough" calls in our shop. If it's borderline, it's replaced.
Honest Warranty
Our 3-year/100K warranty says what it means. No buried exclusions, no fine print designed to avoid paying claims. We stand behind our work.
Documented Quality
Every engine ships with a build sheet. Every critical measurement is recorded. You get a paper trail, not just a promise.
Ford Only
We don't build everything for everyone. We build Ford engines — and only Ford engines. Specialization is how we stay the best at what we do.
Fast Freight
Downtime costs money. We ship fast and freight-free to 48 states so your truck — or your customer's truck — gets back to work.
Straight Talk
If we can't build your engine right, we'll tell you. If there's a better option for your application, we'll say so. No upselling, no runaround.
